How to send mail with attachment on the new mobile Gmail interface

I have been receiving series of messages from different people pertaining the new mobile Gmail interface on how to attach files while composing a new message with mobile device. And truly, when one take a close look at the new mobile Gmail interface when trying to attach a file while composing a new message, it is obvious that there is no room for file attachment to the message.

In my previous post, I discussed the new mobile Gmail and the new mobile yahoo interface.

From my own point of view, I think it is an omission or error on the part of Google not to include that in their new mobile Gmail look, and many Gmail users are not really please with that and consider it as a major downside for the new mobile Gmail interface. The issue has really kept users wondering, and with the view that whenever changes or upgrade like this is being made, that it has always been done for the total improvement of the former versions without losing any core feature or function.

But we noticed that it is not always so, that changes sometimes still fail to meet users requirement and even some core features available in older versions are somtimes being left out in the new versions or upgrade, as can easily be seen with the new mobile Gmail interface as discussed above.

There are other similar occurrences that have happened in the past to other companies whereby core features are being omitted in the newly upgraded version of the product or service they render. A typical example could be seen in Microsoft windows 8, where the start-up button that was valued by many window users and that was present in other lower versions of windows was omitted. And we all saw the effect of the omission which caused Microsoft to immediately embark on the production of windows 8.1 to correct the anomaly.

Another example of such important feature omission could be observed on opera mini for mobile where earlier versions of opera mini has this wonderful short cut key feature that by combining the #key button followed immediately by the number 3 keypad button, quickly takes one either to the top or bottom of a long page, but in the newer versions of opera mini, such feature is nowhere to be found.

Going back to the original question on how to attach file(s) when composing a new mail on the new mobile Gmail interface? The simple answer to that question is that there is no provision for the attachment of files when composing a new mail on the new mobile Gmail interface. The only option left here if you have to attach a file to your new message is for you to switch the mobile version to the desktop version.

And since the above option of switching to desktop version too is not available in the new mobile Gmail mobile interface. If you want to achieve that so that you will be able to type your message and attach file(s) to it, click this link Gmail desktop version for mobile with your mobile device. After that, you will be taken immediately to the desktop version and there, you should be able to compose your mail, attach whatever file you want from your mobile device.

    1. Just refresh and click again. At initial click it will act as if it wants to first redirect to Facebook but will redirect to the right place.
