Buying And Using An iPhone In Nigeria, A Wasteful Move, Self-Imprisonment Or A Wise Venture?

The iPhone, which is a brand of Apple Inc., has for years being a top notched device and force to reckon with as far as smartphone is concerned.

Although Apple with their iPhone devices has most times fallen only 1 step below top phone manufacturer in the world, Samsung but whenever iPhone is mentioned in the smartphone industries and various mobile markets across the globe it always sends a unique shock wave and often coated with all manners of exquisiteness.

In fact the iPhone is an enigma when it comes to smartphone and its premium built both in design and performance cannot be denied.

Unlike Samsung which runs on android OS and is more common down here, iPhone runs an entirely different OS known as iOS.

However, one of the drawbacks that the iPhone often presents itself to people over here is that they often tag it as very expensive phones and thus many shy away from acquiring one iPhone for themselves.

But on the other way round, for those that can afford an iPhone device in Nigeria, they have mostly done so in a rather ostentatious manner and have converted the iPhone as a device for flaunting and show of class rather than the primary purposes in which smartphones were meant for.

Now coming to the main topic of discussion, apart from iPhone being one of the best phones in the world, many Nigerians desire an iPhone for class and others for reasons best known to them; many times too, they have failed to picture the other sides of using an iPhone in Nigeria by not weighing the pros and cons of owning and using a smartphone here.

Some, because of purely show of class have ignorantly overlooked the cons associated with the use of iPhone in Nigeria, where some more knowledgeable others consider using an iPhone in Nigeria as total self-imprisonment, since the iOS is not as flexible as the android platform when it comes to mobile phone tweaks.

Now we want to present to you the general pros of the iPhone that some of you desiring it might not even be aware of.

•  iPhones have always come with their unique and generally admirable premium designs with iconic single round home button that might finally be getting ditched in 2017 as Apple plans to overhaul design of the iPhone in the nearest feature.

•  Coming down to app availability, many android lovers often mistakenly think that android alone has it all when it comes to apps, but like android, the iOS, can reasonably match up android with apps, as iOS apps are equally almost inexhaustibly…let’s put it simple; iPhones have lots of apps that you can play around with.

•  Talking about performances, as far as we are concerned, we don’t think that any other phones in the world can go shoulder to shoulder with iPhone at the mention of “performance”. iPhone’s chipsets are well optimised to produce the best mobile performance task that you can think of, and this is why iPhones processors are usually the fastest and even a 2GB RAM iPhone can perform as well or better than other devices with 4GB RAM.

So, when you really want to talk about smartphone processors performance through real testing and usage, you should just reserve the king’s chair for iPhone.

What about battery performance?

•  i Phones also have very strong battery optimisation features, and little wonder you will see an iPhone with 2500mAh battery capacity outsmarting those other devices with 3,000 to 3,500mAh capacity. Its battery optimized efficiency can easily be seen in the i Phones retention power; for example, you can leave an iPhone in sleep mode for many hours and still come back to see its battery percentage remaining at 100%.

All said for the pros, now let’s equally look at iPhone’s cons that can easily keep you biting your finger on whether to buy that iPhone and use in Nigeria

•  iPhones are first of all expensive devices and obviously not for any light pocketed folk out there; we are not saying that Samsung is inexpensive, but some are quite affordable and with its android OS, which is an open source platform it is easier and widely and readily available.

•  Many iPhones these days don’t come with external support for memory (space) extension and hence you are often limited to manage with the available internal memory.

•  Off course by now you should have known that iPhone is a jealous device and does not allow Bluetooth transfer of any kind to other devices

•  You are often left without file manager to easily handle and tweak your files

•  Many of you love music, but your music library can only be managed with iTunes and hence you need a laptop/computer to use in manipulation of your music library, and the worst of it is that the computer must be unique; use another computer and risk losing all your files immediately

•  You cannot juxtapose or side load apps with your iPhone.

In other words you are almost caged using iPhone in Nigeria as iPhone does not give you that flexibility of usage that you might desire since tweaking iPhone is almost not in existence.

And yes some of you might talk about easing iPhone imprisonment by jailbreaking, but even at that you can never compare the flexibility that android offers to that of iOS.

Finally and after reading our submissions above, will you say that going for an iPhone in Nigeria is a wasteful move (self-imprisonment) owning to its high cost and also the fact that there is high tendency that you might not use the device the way you like or is it still a wise move to go for one, owning to the fact that you are getting for yourself that premium device?
