TCL Takes Over Blackberry Brand Name Under A New License Deal
It is no longer news that the once admired smartphone maker Blackberry is dead, and some weeks back the Canadian company officially confirmed their exit from the mobile phone manufacturing world after many last attempts to resuscitate the dying devices still proved abortive.
You can recall that the last major effort adopted by Blackberry to bring back their devices to life was keying into the manufacturing of android phones, which also did not go well for them.
The latest news coming out from Blackberry is the new licensing deal struck with a Chinese handset maker TCL, who from now on has been given all privileges to manufacture android phones with Blackberry brand name, and which further signals the complete burial of Blackberry Company in phone manufacturing arena.
This new Blackberry name licensing deal with TCL is not something uncommon as this was the exact case with the once giant Finnish Nokia phone company when they struck a similar deal with Microsoft.
Even after Nokia ended the Microsoft deal and got back the Nokia brand name, they went ahead again to strike a long 10 years name license deal with HMD Global.

Now talking about TCL Company, it is also not a new thing for the company in accepting such deal with blackberry.
It was a clear indication that they believe they have what it takes to keep the Blackberry brand name alive in android phone manufacturing, as little do some know that they were even in charge on the last two Blackberry android phones, Blackberry DTEK 50 and Blackberry DTEK 60.
Finally, it is also worthy to note that TCL was the company that bought over the business of the former French phone maker company Alcatel, and they also believed that they have been able to position Alcatel devices in good spotlight in the smartphone world and hoping to do same to Blackberry.
