It’s Official, Android 8 (O) Has Been Named Android Oreo

After many guesses on what could be the dessert name for the next and upcoming android OS, Android 8 (O), Google in its usual glamorous style, yesterday Monday 21st officially took to the centre stage to unveil the Android stature heralding its next android Operating System, and this time around it was an Oreo cookie starched on the centre of the Android stature, which immediately revealed to us that Android 8 (O) is to be called the Android Oreo.

As it has always been Google’s convention of naming the next version of their android OS alphabetically and also with a dessert name usually emanating from one form of candies, and this time around it is the Oreo cookie candy, for we all know that the previous android 7 (N) OS was named the Nougat form of candy.

Away from its usual California Mountain View arena that most of their previous Android OS naming ceremony has taken place, Google this time around decided to take it to the Manhattan and it was done at the exact period when the moon was eclipsing the sun.

Android Oreo as it is called, for the previous month has been on Beta testing and Google has finally released the final structure of the OS, which is expected to be fully operational on selected devices towards the end of the year.

Android 8 will be coming with lots of exciting updates, with its highlighted features ranging from battery optimisation, stronger security and operational speed, to other features like picture in picture, dotted notification, auto refill for fast and palatable typing etc.

As usual the Google Pixel and Nexus devices should be the first devices to be featuring the android upcoming OS, whereas other smartphones from makers like Samsung, Sony, Essential, Huawei, and Motorola etc. are expected to get the updates for android Oreo much later in the year.
