Blog post link-dumping as one of the greatest bane to blogging and low traffic
An act of
successful blogging mostly involves a process whereby a blogger takes his/her
time in creating quality content often regarded as posts, after which he/she
finds appropriate means or ways of passing or getting the message (content)
across to good numbers of ever awaiting audience (visitors) known as blog
content targeting or in general term blog promotions, which in turn generates
traffic to your blog and can finally leads to income generation after the
entire process.
Since every
bloggers write contents not for themselves but for prospective and
potential visitors (readers) to consume, hence the need to always promote your
blog post content after writing them becomes imperative.
The general
characteristics of every blogger is that every blogger needs traffic to their
blog, to the extent that even bloggers with plagiarised contents also need
traffic the same way as bloggers with unique and quality contents.
For me I will say that generating traffic to your blog has remained one of the greatest challenges facing every bloggers owing to the fact that no amount of traffic is enough for any given blogger.

A good
blogger keeps striving for more and more traffic, even when he/she is receiving
tons of traffic; they always want more which is never a bad idea. In terms of
driving traffic to your blog, I always refer to bloggers simply as ‘’Oliver
Twist’’.
This article
is geared towards the attitude of most bloggers in terms of driving traffic to
their blogs.

It is true that you are always encouraged to drive traffic to your blog with every possible and legitimate means, but the three questions here are;
1. How do you really go about promoting
your blog posts?
2. On promoting your blog posts, are you
getting the right traffic result that is commensurate with the effort that you
are putting in?
3. Are you promoting your blog post
properly or are you promoting in the wrong places?
Now it is
time to answer the above question one after the other
How do we really go about promoting
our blog posts?
After
creating that your quality content posts, there are several methods that are
available here online in taking those your contents to your visitors; if only
you have not even been practicing most of them, but let still mention them. Below
are what most blogger do with regard to that;
= => they
promote their blog posts after creating them on social media sites like
Facebook, Google +, Twitter, Linkedin etc
= => in addition to that, they join many different groups on social media site like Facebook groups, Google+ communities and promote their contents to such groups
= => they promote their contents on different online forums
= => they promote their contents by commenting and dropping their links on domineering sites
= => they promote their contents on social bookmarking sites like Stumbleupon, Pinterst, Reddit, Digg, Tumbrl etc
On promoting your blog posts, are you
getting the right traffic result that is commensurate with the effort that you
are putting in?
This is a
very critical area and always a good question you should endeavour to ask
yourself from time to time as you strive to promote your blog content.
Some bloggers just keep on spending time and working hard without actually trying to pause at interval to monitor what is coming out from their input effort. You should endeavour to always have it at the back of your mind that you could actually be spending time and putting in much effort, but that does not necessarily mean that you are doing the right thing, it could be that you are channelling your effort towards the wrong way or wrong direction.

No wonder
you could easily see some bloggers working and promoting day and night everyday
with little or no positive results coming out while others just spend few hours
doing same, but achieving great success.
That is why it is always advised to monitor your blogging and post promotional activities to know when and where you are doing wrong or whether you are getting it right. This practice will always leverage your effort, time and give you total control of what you do which will in turn produce the best result for your blog promotional activities.

Are you promoting your blog post
properly or are you promoting in the wrong places (or practicing link dumping)?
Here lies
the main emphasis of this article and you should read carefully. In the bid to
drive traffic to your blog by any means, most bloggers are guilty of this ‘Link-dumping’ i.e. promoting blog
posts in wrong online environment, thereby resulting in online spamming of
forums, groups, communities and other online environment.
Some goes to the extent of link-dumping their blog post on any online environment they found themselves regardless of whether the posts makes sense or not to members of such environment.
Some don’t even care about forums, groups or community rules, all they care is just to go from one group or the other that they could lay their hands on and link dump and go without minding if anybody visits their blogs through those links or not and at the long run, you will be feeling that you are working hard but not achieving the desired results.

First of all
here, let's discuss a little bit about spamming, I know some of you already know
what spamming is all about, but for the benefit of those who do not know, link
spamming is always discouraged in virtually every online environments and is
mostly of two categories;
1. We have spamming by continuous and
repeatedly posting a particular link multiple times on a particular group or
community
2. We have the unsolicited spamming link i.e. posting your blog link in an environment where they are not particularly needed or requested for by the environment members.

Here you
will want to agree with me that a blogger could have an undoubtedly quality
content with a particular blog posts but if not well promoted or engage in
spamming with it, then the saying that quality content is king could be demeaned
here.
Now let take
a close look at a typical scenario which is always obtainable on your online
communities or groups. Have you taken out time to find out what is really
happening in those communities or groups that you joined? Let's take Facebook
groups as a typical example.
If you visit most of these groups on the popular Facebook site, I assure you that what you will easily notice is that most of the groups have been hijacked by marketers, bloggers and site owners to either dump their promotional links or blog post links, and a question now arises here; if everybody is link dumping in those groups, then who are the ones to click on the link to read your so called quality content.

The worst of
it is that, bloggers will create let say contents on blogging tips and go to
the extent of dumping the link on business groups or other groups that have
nothing to do with blogging, and will be expecting to get huge traffic from
such groups.
Do yourself some favours and take out time to check out some of those groups to see and know what really are happening there, I bet you, you will almost be utterly disappointed.

In essence,
what am I saying here; the best thing is to join groups or communities that are
highly interactive, take time to participate in the group, by so doing,
questions are asked and solutions are being proffered and in this case, your
blog posts might come handy, people might demand for it since it contains
solutions to their problems, you can then furnish them with your blog post link
without spamming anybody.
On the other
way round, even if you have to submit your link to some of the communities or
groups that you are not active in let it be that your link is relevant or
related in one way or the other to what the groups or communities is all about.
Stop posting off topic content to every group you happen to find yourself in.
Finally, let’s
talk on the way most of these groups and communities are structured and the way
your link can be useful. It is true that all of these groups are categorised.
For instance if you want to know more or check on something that get to do with cars, you should not be heading to blogging tips communities to look for solution to the problem but rather go to car or automobile groups, so you will now see that it is only those with links or content talking about cars that will benefit because the visitors to such group will most likely click on their links and because they posted at the right places.
So those bloggers that post their links at appropriate places tends to enjoy more juicy traffic than those that just link-dumb at any slightest opportunities.
