Black Saturday for Airtel network subscribers with airtel circulated disastrous text message on PC browsing with BIS
Joke: if it
were to be obituary message it would have gone like this ‘’with
deep sense of lost, we regret to announce the sudden demise of ………………..” But
now this one is not obituary yet a very painful one, it might as well go like
this; “with deep sense of feeling of lost we want
to express our utmost dissatisfaction with the recent circulated message by
airtel on planning to end airtel browsing on PC with BIS for their loyal subscribers;
signed: management of Airtel Browsing Association of Nigeria (ABAN)”
It was a
shocker message indeed coming from one of the leading GSM network provider
yesterday evening; airtel Nigeria, when must of the airtel loyal subscribers
were greeted with text message on their devices with plans to end browsing with
BIS plans on PC and other devices apart from blackberry phones starting from
the 3rd of December 2013, to cap it all just in 2 days’ time from
today.
It was sad
news indeed and even worst as this is coming in the heels of recent block by
MTN from unlimited browsing with VPN and also my yesterday’s morning article of
how airtel BIS browsing is still blazing on PC and other devices.

At this
point in time all the airtel loyal subscribers and not just happy with the
message and are lamenting seriously with total dissatisfaction with what appear
to be December and Xmas black gift from airtel and MTN to their loyal
subscribers.
Some have even resorted to prayers, that airtel plans of stopping BIS browsing on PC and other devices should never come to pass, while some have kept hope alive or being capable of finding quicker alternatives to cheap browsing should airtel finally strike on the 3rd day December as was circulated in their yesterday’s text messages to subscribers.

In even what
appear to be worst scenario from airtel latest black gift, is that some
subscribers said they just renewed their airtel BIS subscription before the
disastrous text message arrived, while some are saying that they still have
huge unexhausted data bundle remaining on their SIM, but for those that have
consider themselves a bit lucky for now said that after receiving the text
message, that they have just but few data bundle remaining which they can
easily exhaust before the said date.
But all in
all, I must tell you that none of the airtel loyal subscriber is happy at this
moment after the reception of the text message, this is owning to the fact that
data bundle subscription for browsing the internet is still on the high side
across the four major GSM network providers operating in the country, and at
this time, taking away this airtel BIS which most internet users in the country
have resorted to in accessing the internet with at lower cost is utterly a
total disaster.
This is December period, so many expenses are being made down here the country by this time and so people even try as much as possible to be judicious in their spending to curtail expensive and even save for the dry days, and now seems that airtel is trying to add more salt to the already perceived spending injury, because if airtel finally strike, what it will then mean for internet users over here is that for your to keep on having juicy access to the internet, you then have to pay through your nose for such service.
One funny
thing about this whole issue is that it now time that people are beginning to
embrace the saying that “a bird in hand is worth more than millions in the bush”,
I am saying this to all those that have vehemently criticised the internet
speed associated with airtel browsing on PC and other devices with BIS.
I believe now that with the message at hand, people would have even preferred a snail speed internet browsing that they can manage from time to time at low cost than now having to pay heavily should airtel strike.

In my little
observation, it seems that the whole black situation that we are witnessing is
a form of transfer from black Friday failure-to-deliver-as-promised from some
of the big and famous online stores in the country, so after black Friday now
comes black Saturday.
MTN decided to strike on black Friday by blocking browsing with VPN, followed by airtel black Saturday text message, but we don’t want to have or witness any black Sunday.

I have
received couples of messages pertaining the recent development and many have
asked me what next will become their fate in terms of low cost browsing should
airtel make good of their promises contained in their recent circulated text
messages.
My message
to them is to still keep hopes alive, and not to renew any subscription for now
and they should keep on counting on us, as we will make sure to keep them
updated and furnish them with any trick that might likely come out thereafter
if airtel finally block, for them to continue with their browsing pleasure at
low cost.
