Goal line technology finally put to use in the all English affair game, last night Capital one cup
Last night being
the 17th of December 2013 marked the first time that the so much awaited
goal line technology was put to use in the all English affairs Capital one cup
quarter final games between Sunderland FC and Chelsea FC and also in the game
between Leicester city and Manchester city.
The goal
line technology was initiated way back in the wake of the call to FIFA to find a
lasting solution in resolving goal deciders for a ball that just crossed the
goal line and for human errors mostly from the referees failing to see it and
most times always going for the wrong decision in
goal decider.
We have seen
so many cases both in the past and in recent times whereby players goals are
being disqualified as a result of these errors even when replay shows that the
ball actually did get pass the goal line.
Last night the English Capital one cup finally marked the first time such technology often regarded as ‘goal ref’ was being put to use in goal deciders.

And the goalref technology was noticed more in the game between Sunderland FC and Chelsea
FC when Frank Lampard of Chelsea slide pass the ball through a Sunderland
defender’s leg and the ball just passing the goal line with just an inch or so.
If you had observed your screen at that moment when the goal was scored, you will notice at the bottom left of the screen a written ‘goal decider’ sort of green label that blinked and then finally flashed goal, meaning it confirmed it was a goal.

From all
indication, that first test of the goal line technology in the all English
affairs came can easily be seen as a success and we look forward of seeing more
of the goal ref in subsequent games.
