April update: Airtel BIS browsing on Android, PC and other devices
So many
people have awaited for this update to come so that they will know their fate
concerning whether Airtel BIS is still browsing on Android, PC, Apple and other
devices and also to know whether they will renew their subscription or not.
In this
month of April, Airtel has made many changes with regards to browsing the
internet with Blackberry internet subscription on non-blackberry devices.
But the very first good news that I will be leaving you with here is that Airtel BIS is still blazing on non-blackberry devices such as your Android devices, your PC, Apple devices etc. up till this very moment that this article is being published and as you are currently reading it.

Now, talking
about the changes that Airtel has made this month; Airtel has been able to
totally separate the BIS bundle from the normal Airtel data bundle and have
assigned another and a separate code for checking your blackberry bundle
balance. You will agree with me that before now, you can use any of these codes
*141*712*0# or *141*11*0# or *123*10# to check for both BIS and normal airtel
bundle balance.
But now, it is no longer the case with airtel BIS, as the above
codes can now be used to check for airtel normal data bundle plans only and so
if you now wish to check for your Airtel BIS bundle balance, the new code is *123*9#.
So if you
subscribe for any of the Airtel BIS plans now and you went ahead to check your
bundle plans with any of those previous codes, you either get this feedback
“Dear customer, you do not have an active data plan” or that “you have 0.00MB
of data available” and this has really been the bone of contention amongst many
airtel users and it makes them feel or fear that airtel has deducted their
subscription credit without being subscribed into the airtel BIS plan they
opted for.
Just as I have said, if you subscribe to any of the airtel BIS plans, this is now the right code to be using in checking for your available or remaining BIS data bundle balance, *123*9#.

Secondly,
what this now entails is that unlike before, when you subscribe to any of the
Airtel BIS plans, and if it was unable to connect and browse, you were asked to
top it up with Airtel N100 and dial the code *141*11*1# so as to activate the
browsing with the additional 10MB that will be added, this time around, you no
longer need to top up with any N100 airtime, as if you go ahead to do so, you
will only get the 10MB that will be added
to your normal airtel bundle balance and it will no longer add up to
that of the BIS bundle balance to boost it up.
Finally, the
last change that I want to mention here made by airtel this month on Airtel BIS
browsing on Android, PC and other devices is more or less a sad one I must
confess, is that your Airtel BIS bundle no longer last long as before, it now
gets exhausted faster.
For example, your N1,500 airtel BIS subscription will actually give you 2GB as usual, but the 2GB finishes quickly as if it was 1GB that was given to you, and the same goes with the daily plan of N100 for 80MB and that of the weekly plan of N525 for 400mb, browsing with them on non-blackberry devices zaps the data bundle quickly unlike before and this is quite unfortunate in this era of high cost internet data bundles by all the available service providers in the country.
What can one do at this very moment other that just to keep managing it because it is still cheaper or opt for MTN night plan that offer 4.5GB for N2,500.
