MTN surpasses my 2 months vote of confidence in quality of data service delivery

For those that know me well, they know that before I will truly come up and pass my verdict or vote of confidence to qualities of services rendered by each of the four major networks providers operating in the country, that I must have scrutinized and made use of their services over a long period of time.

If you have been following us here, you will know that last year our vote was totally cast on Airtel. But after 2 solid months of using, observing and scrutinizing the MTN network recently, I have come to recast my vote on them.

Wait, before you crucify me, I know quite well that your present locations matters a lot in ascertaining the qualities of services rendered by these networks providers.

But as someone who has been quite stable for years now in a current city, the Garden City of Port-Harcourt, I have always measured the four networks from the same location. 

And again, I have been with the four major networks since their inception in the country and I have 2 each of the entire network SIMs legally registered by me. Now when you talk of experience on the networks, I share same experience as you.

Airtel being the first network, then Econet but MTN being my first network, I can tell when their services were so wacky and even in some locations till now people still complain of their services, but let it not surprise you that as you are complaining of the MTN network, others are equally complaining of the other 3 networks of Glo, Etisalat and Airtel somewhere else.

In other words, depending on locations and usage of each of these networks, they all have their downtime, moment of frustrations and moment of glory. 

Our discussion today is not focusing on how wacky those networks are in terms of service delivery but to single out providers that have surpassed all limitations and expectations in data services delivery.

For present and solid 2 months use of the MTN network for my internet service, I can categorically tell you that inside these months there was no time or day that I felt like breaking my SIM and throwing it away as it is used to be in the past when making use of wacky network SIM.

Till now, I am still marveled at the quantity of service that I have received and still receiving from MTN in data service delivery and I am sticking with them currently.

The whole process and current scrutiny started 2 months ago when I decided to enroll on the MTN night plan, at the first few days; we used it only at night and used other network in the day time. 

It is normal with the entire networks that data services are always fast at night because of reduced loads on their networks and servers, but I thought that my MTN blazing at night was as a result of that.

Thereafter, we decided to dig in and work on how we can use the MTN night plan to browse all day, and we succeeded in coming up with using it with MTN simple server. We then noticed that even in the day time that we were using it with Simple server, it was still blazing without any reduced speed.

Since the MTN simple server will only allow you to browse on PC and only with Mozilla Firefox browser, we went in deeper to work out on ways to use the MTN night plan on Android phones and on PC with any browser of your choice, and we succeeded in coming up with the OpenVPN clients software. That of Apple devices are also on ground, but as the spirit leads, we will decide whether to put it up or not.

As I write this piece now the MTN simple server and the OpenVPN client are still working and blazing on both PC and Android devices, but the only little glitch is that of the MTN simple server, it is now blazing at reduced speed. The OpenVPN still blazes as normal with full speed.

I then concluded that MTN really did some major upgrade to their servers and I am feeling the impact and I am currently throwing my full vote of confidence on them considering that their network is the most used and which we expect to be more congested, but it blazes even at all odds.
