4 dangers of constantly changing your blog design or template, especially #2
One cannot doubt the huge benefits
associated with re-branding or repackaging of any products in
both online and offline marketing world especially when such products
gradually begin to lose relevancy or begin to get less attractive in the eyes
of consumers.
At
this point, rebranding or repackaging might be the only remaining option to
bring back the products to live or to its glorious selling periods.
Same
goes here with blog redesigning or repackaging. Yes, redesigning your blog can
easily inject back life and attraction to your blog and that is probably why
you always hear the adage that change remains the only constant thing in life.
What
I have just said above are some the positive impact of rebranding or
redesigning a blog, but can only be achieved to make your blog remain
attractive if and only when done in better
ways and appropriate timing.

But
it is quite unfortunate that many bloggers and webmasters alike especially the
upcoming ones lack the appropriate knowledge and often don’t know the grieve
consequences of constantly changing of particular blogs designs or template
within short space of time.
Let’s
say here, every month your blog wears an entire new and different look as
result of constant redesigning or template change, and the bloggers involved
are always happy seeing their blogs wear new look all the time, thinking that
it is good practice and the art of blog beautification, without actually
knowing the implication of such actions.
If
you take some cues from pro-bloggers, you will notice that they hardly redesign
their blogs entirely and have genuine reasons for that. And not as if they
don’t redesign entirely at all, off course they do but not constantly. It takes
them periods of 1, 2 to 3 years in some cases before they engage in any major
redesign and only when the need arises.
You can read: The two most challenging aspects of blogging
Below
are the 4 grievous consequences of constantly redesigning of your blog;
1.
Have you heard of the
adage that a rolling stone gathers no moss? In other words from one blog design
to the other in just a space of few months. It is just an indication to your
blog audience that your blog is still in beta stage and that you are still
trying to find your bearing in the blogosphere because you haven’t yet settled
for that particular design that will work for you.
And when your
audience senses that you are still trying to sort yourself out in the
blogosphere, they will automatically become less attracted to your blog
believing you are still learning and have nothing much to offer them.
2.
Do you know what blog image design stereotype is? As a growing or
upcoming blogger, your growing blog audience tries to unconsciously capture the
image design of your blog whenever they visit or anywhere on the web they
happen to come across it, and your blog only remains stereotyped to them only
when it has same design over long periods of time.
The benefit of
blog design stereotyping is enormous as your audience tend to easily recognize
your blog anytime they see it and also find it easier and friendlier to interact
with because they already know the ins and outs of it.
You now see
that constantly changing your blog design or templates within short period of
times will not be able to paint or register the image of your blog design into
the memories of your audience easily especially on your want-to-be blog fans.
People like working with what they are more familiar with.

3.
If you must change the entire design of your blog, it must be
done in such a way that your new design will be considered better than the
former in all ramifications and be done at the appropriate timing, but it is
quite unfortunate that many bloggers, after redesigning of their blogs, their
audience will still prefer the former.
Maybe some
might want to argue here that the reason why it often appears that way is
usually as a result of that stereotyped image and that with time one will get
use the newly redesigned blog again. And yes no doubt that it sometimes happens
that way, but I still put it to you that a horrible blog design will often
remain a horrible design and for some, their newly redesigned or new template
blog looks indeed poor.
4.
All the 3 dangers mentioned above can easily culminate in
this 4th danger causing your blog to lose quality organic traffic
which we all know is the livewire of every blog and that in turn will greatly affect
your blog monetization potential.
Finally,
if you must change your blog design or template, the timing of the change is
very important; here we say for at least a period of 1 year and more. The new
design or template you are also changing into matters a great deal; for your
new design must be superior to your former in all ramifications. Also the
status you have attained or reached in your blogging activities also has its
own role to play if you are changing your blog design. For example a
pro-blogger already with massive and loyal readers, even if they decide to
constantly change their blog design or template It will not have much negative
effect on their blog as their readers have since gained confident in their contents
and care less about their blog design.
