Google de-indexing some of your posts or your posts not getting indexed? What you should know
It is normal
and good practices for bloggers to go ahead to re-submit their sitemaps that was attached to their Google Webmaster Tool anytime they publish new posts.
As this is a way of reminding or alerting and inviting Google spiders to quickly come and crawl your pages and index your new contents for search engine visibility.
As this is a way of reminding or alerting and inviting Google spiders to quickly come and crawl your pages and index your new contents for search engine visibility.
But I
noticed that while many bloggers engage in that, and in addition use their Google
Webmaster Tools to keep track of their submitted and indexed URL, recently they
have been some sorts of complaints that some of their submitted URL are either
left un-indexed or that some that were previously indexed are rather getting
de-indexed by Google.
Obviously de-indexing of your already indexed pages, if that happens, is not a good sign or thing that any blogger or webmaster will be happy about.

Normally,
when you re-submit your sitemaps each time you have a new post (page) on your blog, Google Webmaster
Tools records the number of URL you have submitted
together with the number of those URL that have been indexed. It presents them in form of a bar chart consisting of two bars of blue and red colors in
the chart.
The blue bar signifying the total number of URL you have submitted as contained in your sitemap and the red bar showing the number of those submitted URL that have been indexed by Google.

Though
Google Webmaster Tools have been recommended as one of the best online tools
for your blog/web pages analysis, I want to tell you that it is not devoid from error.
I am writing
this today to draw your attention closely to the Google Webmaster Tools that you have been relying solely on for
your pages analysis.
I want to let you know that we have been closely
monitoring and researching on the data often presented by Google Webmaster
Tools especially that of the submitted and indexed URL for close to a year and
the half now.
And throughout
our researches and data gatherings, we can tell you that Google Webmaster Tool
is not a perfect tool also, and that some of those data presented by Google
Webmaster Tool are often done in errors with wrong statistics and are not represented in real time.

Sometimes,
in fact most times some of your pages would have been indexed by Google, but
Webmaster Tool will not record it in real time. With the data from your
Webmaster Tool, you still think that your posts (pages) are yet to be indexed,
especially for those that rely only on Google Webmaster Tool for their
statistics.
The funny
part of it is that sometimes you will even come back to check your Webmaster
Tool to notice that the numbers of your previously indexed URL have reduced, and
in the right sense which should be suggestive that some of your pages have been
de-indexed.
And yes we know that Google do de-index pages, maybe pages that have faltered or did not meet up to their Webmaster standard or as result of introduction of new algorithm.
And yes we know that Google do de-index pages, maybe pages that have faltered or did not meet up to their Webmaster standard or as result of introduction of new algorithm.
But I want
to tell you that it is not always so and there are always
high tendency that none of your pages were even de-index at the first place but you are only seeing lower number of indexed pages on Google Webmaster Tool in error.
You can read: Is Google Adsense overrated?
For a
typical example, my post of yesterday has been indexed by Google and is already
appearing on Google search engine results, but Webmaster Tool is yet to record
it.
So what I want
you to understand here is that Google Webmaster Tools can be regarded as the
best tool out there for analyzing your pages, but never you think that it is a
perfect tool, though I doubt if there are any perfect tool out there because of
the complexity involved in indexing billions of webpages out there.
Now starting
from today, when you use your Google Webmaster Tool to analyze your indexed
pages, you have nothing to panic when it is indicating that some of your pages
are not yet indexed.
What I urge you to do at this point is just for you to take a step further and do little more research on your pages especially the ones you felt are not yet indexed.
You can just copy and paste the title of the page on Google Search and you might be surprised to see it appear on the search engine result, signifying that Google has indexed it.

Hi Edwin,
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about Google de-indexing some of our posts, though I knew that sometimes some posts just aren't indexed. Google webmasters is a wonderful place to check out all your stats, and I think you can manually index your posts there as well.
Yes, that is not the start and end of it all, just as you mentioned. :)
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend :)
Hi Madam,
DeleteNice to have you hear once again. Google do de-index some post, I personally witnessed it sometime in December last year. I was shocked to the teeth when I noticed that some of my posts that were previously indexed weren't appearing again on search engine even when I typed the title of the post on Google search as they appear on my page.
But I later found out that it happens when a blog or posts become affected in Google new updates. But after the de-indexing, with time the posts got indexed again, and I began to recover from the Google update hit, till everything became normal again within a space of 1 month.
Manually indexing of post in Google Webmaster Tools!, sound quite strange to me, and I don't have a single idea about that, I only re-submit my sitemap there to alert Google spiders that I have new update on my blog.
Thank for stopping by
The Google Webmaster Tool or GWT can be highly effectual when it comes to analyzing activities on a blog. It becomes readily important for the marketer to checkout what works best and make provisions for errors.
ReplyDeleteYes, there could be errors in GWT and this could affect the indexing results. Using alternative tools to check indexing can give you better insights on whether what is wrong with the indexing is error or manipulation!
