Android Dessert names (codenames) to date
It might
surprise you to know that since 2009, Google Android has adopted a sugary name in alphabetical order for each of the new release version for the
Android Operating System (OS).
A friend
once joked about it by saying that ‘it seems Google, the developer of the
Android OS loves food so much’.
Personally, I
know about those sweet names that Google has adopted to name each of the new
releases of Android OS, but frankly speaking, it has never crossed my mind that
they were done alphabetically and not until recently that I discovered that
myself…..And I guess some of you might also be in the same shoe with me on that
one.
Apart from
Android version 1.0 and 1.1, which were codenamed Alpha and Beta, the rest were codenamed with a dessert, sweet sounding names
and were alphabetically done till date.
Now below are
the Android versions from 2009 till date with their dessert names that you and I
loved so much and have come to embrace;
Must read: Root all your android devices now

Funny names
for Android, but nice names, aren’t they?...Ok
you can now act as the harbinger and tell us what Android M – Z will sound like
in the future if the Android naming status quo remains.
Maybe we
should start the prophetic naming from our ends and here are our prophetic

DeleteYes Edwin,
ReplyDeleteGoogle has adopted food deserts in alphabetical order to name various versions of the Android operating system. I have been aware of this a few years back when the Gingerbread 2.3 was released.
Android enthusiasts should know this strategy employed by Google so they know what to expect.
Its cool to see the possible future versions of android listed here.
ATTENTION: Please edit the date in your opening sentence "It might surprise you to know that since 2019...". I am sure it is an oversight. Perhaps you mean "2009" and not "2019"
I left this comment in kingged.com where this post was found
I hv noted it , untill then.
