Why Windows 8 and 8.1 Zap Internet Data and How to Curtail it
Yesterday I
was reading through an article about Windows 8 and 8.1 and I saw a particular comment
from someone that prompted me to put up this piece.
The person
made a comment and was mentioning how his new Windows 8 PC zaps his internet
data and that immediately prompted him to downgrade from Windows 8 to Windows
7.
You might
want to agree with him by saying that Windows 8 zaps internet data, but the
little mistake he made before hastily downgraded to Windows 7 was that he
failed to find out the cause of the data zapping and see if it has a remedy
before downgrading.
Yes it is
true that Windows 8 and 8.1 PC consumes lots of internet data, but the major
reason behind that is that the tiled
start up screen of the Operating System contains lots of live apps that
automatically and constantly updates themselves whenever there is internet
access.
For this
reason, your metered internet connection burns at faster rate coupled with the
normal Windows updates that take place while connected to the internet even
without much downloading on your part.

And again
with all these live tiles updates on, they tend to slow down your internet connection.
How do I curtail this internet data
zapping on my Windows 8 and 8.1?
To reduce
excessive and faster data consumption on your Windows 8, you can simply turn
off the tiled live app updates by;
= =>
Going to the tiled start screen of your PC
= =>
Select each of the app and right click
= => Then
choose turn live update off from the right click options.
By so doing,
anytime you connect your PC to the internet, the live update apps will no
longer connect to the internet for updates and you will end up having faster
connection for your normal internet surfing and also you have succeeded in
curtailing internet data zapping.
