Facebook Now Supports Animated GIF Images on News Feeds (Timelines)
In case you
still don’t know what GIF image is; GIF
is a Graphic Interchange Format, which is another common image format widely
accepted on most devices and very similar to your JPEG and PNG image
format, but unlike the JPEG and PNG, GIF images are mostly animated and still
maintains the general mini-size of normal images.
I know you
have seen many animated images on the web that looks like very short clips and
that is always in continuous repeat mode – most of those types of images are
GIF.
Now, you might have been wondering why you have not been seeing such animated images on Facebook news feeds (timeline) and even some of you might have desired to see such images on Facebook and have even gone ahead to uploading GIF images on your Facebook timelines, hoping to see the GIF images in animated form just the way it was exactly designed to be.
But you
notice that even after uploading the animated GIF images to your Facebook
timelines, the images are still stagnated and never animated.

It is
happening that way simply because Facebook right from inception does not
provide any support for animated GIF.
As you read
this today, Facebook has finally announce that it has started enabling support for
GIF images on news Feeds to allow Facebook users all over the world to even
partake in more fun in uploading and sharing some of their favourite and funny
GIF images.
This is the
latest development and addition coming out from the current number one social
media network on the web today.
Since this
feature is new and Facebook is still rolling it out, you might not notice the
animated GIF yet in some of your locations when you upload it to your timeline,
but as time goes on, it will become fully functional to all.

But nonetheless
you can still go ahead to try this feature out by uploading a GIF link image to
your Facebook timeline, which you can easily get from some famous free image
hosting and sharing companies like IMGUR or GHIPHY and see if the images will
be animated as announced by Facebook.
You could recall that in 2013, Facebook started offering support for auto-play videos which you now easily see all over different Facebook news feeds.
