Will Charging my Phone Overnight Harm the Phone and Battery Life?
There have
been lots of on-going debates on how appropriate is it to leave your phones and
other smart gadget to charge overnight.
Some have
been of the opinion that it will damage their batteries without proofs to back
up their ideology, while some charge their devices overnight out of uncertainty
created by the epileptic power supply they are facing in their region.
But from a
rather expert perspective; will charging
of phones overnight result to overcharging and harm to your device battery or
are there no serious effect to that?
Now speaking
from first-hand experience and scientific knowledge based on proper research,
here are what we will like you to understand pertaining the topic of discussion
on whether overnight charging of your phone will harm it or not;
If it were
in the past when technology has not gotten to the level we are currently
witnessing, I will tell you that such actions of charging phone overnight will
result to overcharging and will damage your devices, but today, things are
changing for the better.
The types of
batteries found on those devices in the past are not the ones currently being
used.
In the past,
phones and other similar gadgets are mostly powered by Nickel based batteries and the technology and chemical reactions involved
with those cells does not give room to arrest charging when battery is fully
charged and therefore can result to overcharging and shortage in battery
lifespan.
But just as
we have emphasized, that things are better now and those shortcomings like
overcharging of devices as result of prolonged or extended charging has been
put to check by modern technologies and phone accessories.
What you
have now are devices being mostly powered by Lithium-ion and Lithium-Po
batteries which does not create room for things like overcharging on them, and
more so the current charging technology has been in a way that when your phone
is fully charged, it internally and automatically cuts out the reception of
flow of electrons from the charger, thereby stops your phone from charging further
at that point.
In other
words, your phone’s battery are not directly impacted when you charge them
overnight and the need to take lightly the notion of overcharging and fear of
damaging your phone has just been addressed, however there are some other
precautions that can be taken when charging overnight for better performance of
your devices.
For instant,
those that charge their phones overnight while leaving them inside casing; it
will be of good practice for you to take out the phone from any form of casing
before going on overnight charging as this will help it not to generate much
heat during charging.
We believe
the issue of overnight charging has been addressed up there in the most
standard manner and from now on you now know the real implication and impact of
charging your smart device overnight in this present technological era.
