Differences Between Tablets And Pads
A friend
approached me yesterday and demanded that I should tell him the difference between
tablet computers and pad computers.
After
explaining to him, I thought it will also be a good thing that I put it up here
for those that might be nursing similar question in mind.
Let’s start
by drawing up similar analogical question; literally, demanding to know the
difference between tablets and pads can be likened to wanting to know the
difference between a helicopter and an aircraft.
There we go,
and off course I expect you to know by now that a helicopter is a type of
aircraft in similar manner we will tell you that a pad is a type of tablet
computer; as simple as that right?

So, the main
thing and the generic term here is Tablet
computer; and pad on the other hand is just a type of tablet computer.
And we
define Tablet Computers in general
term as mobile computers with touchscreen display within particular range of
sizes that uses either finger or stylus gesture as substitute for mouse and physical
keyboard.
With that
now in mind, you can see that it will appear quite awkward trying to
differentiate between tablets and pads or we can simply say that both are not
in the same categories to present for any logical differentiation or comparison.
Since the
general name for mobile computers of such nature is Tablet Computer, the name pads, can also be taken to be the name adopted
by some mobile computer OEM in referring to their particular set of tablet
computers.
Again, the
name Pad was first adopted by Apple Inc.
when it went on to launch the first modern tablet computer in 2010 and it was
called iPad and the prefix i is in accordance with the company’s
rule of thumb in naming most of their hardware and software devices.
And presently,
iPad has now become a household name
for certain type of tablet computer, and some other OEM also now refer to
certain categories of their tablet computers as pads, but Amazon for example on their part as a big company chose
the name Kindle Fire for their
tablet computers
Other
categories of tablet computers that have also turned into household name and
are now more generic are android tablet
computers.

However,
because of the proliferation of Android tablet computers and ipad tablet
computers, at the mention of tablet computers these days, the two names,
android and ipads comes to mind immediately and can even serve as standard to
differentiate between tablet and pads.
Here you can
see that in this latter description of tablet and pads or what many now take tablets
and pads to be, it clearly goes against what we considered earlier on as awkward
in trying to differentiate tablets from pads.
Now going by
seeing tablets as android tablets and pads as ipads, one can easily put up
outstanding differences between tablets and pads by differentiating android
tablets with ipads just in similar manner you will want to differentiate an
android smartphone with an iPhone.
Finally,
trying to differentiate a tablet from a pad as we have discussed above will
largely depends on the perspective you want approach it from.

Cool now I know.
ReplyDeleteSuffice me to say that one major striking difference between tablet and pad that have discovered is that tablets may be able to make voice calls but pads were never intended to make voice calls but only to use data and that is why pads I agree to are 10" and above anything lesser is a tablet.
ReplyDeleteHi Price,
