My Android Device IMEI Is Tweaked And I Have A Pending Update To Make, Should I Go Ahead With The Updates?
For IMEI
tweakers, I know some of you have been nursing this question in mind, while
some of you have tweaked your android IMEI to the extent that you no longer remember
that your android IMEI is in a tweaked state.
Though
sometimes I don’t blame anybody since IMEI tweaking has opened a new door of
getting connected to the internet at cheaper rate, why won’t people tweak.
After all if
MTN, Airtel, Glo and Etisalat are supplying these data as cheap as it is
supposed to be, who will even be thinking of tweaking?
Is it not
this same Airtel that I learnt that in Kenya that they are offering Kenyans
about 18GB of monthly data for only N2500 when you convert Kenyan Shillings
to Naira.
Well, back
to the major topic of discussion, on the part of those that have rooted their
android, we have been blowing it like whistle about unrooting before carrying
out any form of updates; whether it is OTA or via flashing, you need to unroot
first to avoid “had I know”stories.

So on that
part, we expect that you are all aware, and even if you have not heard that
before this is still an opportunity for you to hear and I repeat; always unroot your android before thinking
of carrying out any updates
Then coming
down to the topic of the day, for a tweaked android IMEI, after unrooting as
clearly stated above and your IMEI is still in tweaked state, should you go
ahead like that and update?
Now, before
we give a clear answer to that, let us once again look at what this IMEI truly is and what it actually does
to a phone.
IMEI stands for International Mobile
Station Equipment Identity and therefore it is an identifier for any given
device.
For example,
if you have your android IMEI tweaked to that of blackberry, your android tend to behave like blackberry, and it is
recognized internationally as blackberry.
For those
using dual SIM phones, Phone 1 (SIM 1) is often taken to be the first identifier
for your device, and if you have tweaked its IMEI or maybe you have tweaked
both, then you shouldn’t expect to be receiving OTA updates to your device when
they are made available, since your phone is now wearing anther identity with
the tweaked IMEI.
But again,
since you can install updates via flashing, then here comes the real question
on whether you should go on with the flashing update method when you have an
android with tweaked IMEI.
Remember
that whenever we give tutorial on IMEI tweaking we often say something like
before tweaking, it is advisable to back up your original android IMEI, and
this is the kind of place where the backup/restore IMEI will be coming to
place.

Now listen
up! It is always advisable at all time for you to have the original identity of
your phone intact before carrying out any form of updates, as with this way you
stand a huge chance of getting a smooth and successful updates to your device
without telling stories that touches thereafter.
Therefore if
you have rooted, please unroot! If you
have tweaked your IMEI please untweak
or simply restore your original IMEI
before doing any form of updates to your android….it is as simple as that.
I forgot to back up my android IMEI before tweaking, how do I now go about that? Just follow as instructed to see different ways to
restore your original android IMEI even without backup and without hassle.
Finally, on
whether to uninstall manually installed apps before carrying out any form of
updates; Answer is that, it is not necessary to do that; once you have unrooted
and restored your original IMEI, you are good to go with your updates.
