Why Is Everybody Complaining About GTBank Recently?
GTBank was
one of the deposit money banks in the country that has rose to prominence in
the past years and was able to garner for itself huge customer base as result of
near excellent services they offer when compared with most other banks.
But
recently, the rate at which complains are being heaped by customers of the bank
for poor service delivery, especially on staff-customers relation and their
high transaction charges for almost every transactions is very alarming.
Currently,
there is hardly any media outlet that you will open that you won’t hear people discussing
negativities about GTBank; if not how they were being ripped off by the bank
charges, it will be how they were treated unfairly by GTBank staff in the
banking hall or sluggishness in attending to customers.
Recently,
customers of the bank have been dropping proofs upon proofs on how GTBank over
charges them monthly on SMS alert charges.
I cannot not
even imagine on how SMS alerts will accumulate in 1 month time, to the extent that
more than N1000 will be deducted in
GTBank customers account as SMS alert charges.
Even if customers
receive 5 SMS alerts on daily bases,
which most times is not even the case and that should nowhere near the huge
amount GTBank deducts monthly as SMS charges.
Now, coming
to the recent BVN brouhaha, GTBank was one of the first banks, if not the first
that got customers account limited for withdrawal transactions after claiming
that the customers have failed to register or link-up their BVN to their
accounts before the deadline date given by CBN.
Meanwhile it
was still the same bank that offered online method of linking up BVN code on
their website and many folks have come out to prove that they even used the
online platform set aside by GTBank in more than 5 separate attempts to link up
their BVN just to make sure they are not victimized at the end, but GTBank still
went ahead to limit their account.
Meanwhile
other banks that offered similar avenue had people testifying of the ease and
successes of linking their BVN with the process.
I don’t want
to talk about other high transaction charges like the use of their ATM cards
online et al that are now being attributed to GTBanks these days.
But I have a
message for GTBank and their staffs;
As more and more people continue to complain
on daily bases on poor service delivery by GTBank, GTBank should have it at the
back of their mind that customers are the major players in the banking system and
therefore remain the main determining factor on the growth and success of any
bank.
If the
height recently attained by GTBank is what is now causing them to treat their
customers with less respect and think they can continue to rip them off with
high and unnecessary charges, they should not forget that they are not the only
bank operating in the country.
It will not take
customers anything to dump GTBank, which will in turn plunge both their
customer base and capital base into an abysmal level that will only end up
bringing regrets for the bank.
Professionalism
remains and will still remain one of the key tools that drive success for every
business establishments today, and if it starts getting compromised, the end
point can easily amount to liquidation.
