OMG! This Company Still Manufactures Video Cassette Recorders (VCR), But About To Do This
The moment we thought that the technology equipment that our
forefathers used have been dead and buried long ago, that is the time that you
and I are being greeted with the news that a company known as Funai Corp
somewhere in faraway Japan is still manufacturing and selling Video Cassette
Recorders.
At the mention of video cassette recorder at this point, we
are easily thrown into reminiscence as it makes us look back down the memory
lane when we are all growing up as children and the time that VCR was a hit
back to back in many homes.
And the popular inscription then on the VCR labels which
still lingers in our memory is the VHS, which stands for Video Home System.
The VCR is the piece of technology that was developed in the
50’s and came into limelight in the 70’s and 80’s but today it is surprising to
hear that Funai Corp company is still manufacturing and selling VCR.
If you think that nobody is buying the VCR again in this era
you should think again, because last year, Funai Corp is said to have sold
about 750,000 of VCR units worldwide, which though as expected is a massive
decline from millions of sales that is used to be recorded in the far past.
But do you know what?
Funai Corp is the last standing company still doing that and it
all seems that they are even tired of the technology as they gear up towards
putting an end to the manufacture of VCRs by the end of this month in what they
hinged at difficulty in obtaining parts.
Since the news was brought to us that a company still
manufactures VCR in this era, let it not also be a surprise the day you will
wake up and hear that a company out there is still retailing the gramophone!
