And we decided to carry out the experiment to actually know the range or amount of data that would actually be needed to make 30minutes of call via a Voice Over the Internet Protocol (VOIP) channel.
In other words on how many amount of data that would be required to make 30 minutes of calls on Facebook, Whatsapp or with other similar apps like Telegram, IMO etc. that uses the VOIP for communication.
We actually used Facebook Messenger to initiate the call and we know that it would take similar amount of data on those other similar apps mentioned above for a 30minute or more calls, since they all use VOIP for call communication.
Before we started the call, we were having 324MB data on our line, and by the time we ended the call, it was exactly 30minutes that we spent on the call, after which we checked our remaining data and it was 301MB left, implying that we spent about 21MB for a 30Minute call via 3G network VOIP.
It is important to note that the call was done on a network with normal data burn rate.
With that we can categorically say or estimate that for you to make a 30minute of uninterrupted 3G network VOIP call, plus or minus, you should have nothing less than 25MB of data on your network provider line, then you are good to go.
Finally, from that, you can equally estimate how many MB of data that would be needed for an hour or more calls.
