MTN Latest YouTube Streaming Hourly Data Plans Are Capped, See Their Data Caps

We recently discussed the cheering news on the MTN introduction of cheap and latest YouTube streaming hourly data plans and how to subscribe to them.

And like many would have thought that since these YouTube streaming data plans are time based, i.e. the 1 hour plan and 3 hours plan respectively, that MTN would allow subscribers to stream YouTube videos unlimitedly for the time allotted to the plans.

But unfortunately, MTN as many of you might have known are not too generous when it comes to data allocations to their data consuming services.

And yes the latest MTN YouTube streaming hourly data plans both came with data cap, as the 1 hour data plan is capped at 750MB while the 3hours plan is capped at 2.5GB.

Now the main question is on whether one would be able to exhaust 750MB of data within 1 hour when streaming YouTube videos, and the same goes with the 3hours plan that is capped at 2.5GB.

To answer the question, there are two major determinant factors when it comes to streaming of YouTube video within an hour with 750MB amount of data or streaming within 3 hours with 2.5GB amount of data, and these factors are the current speed of your internet connectivity at the point of streaming and also the video quality of the YouTube video that you would be streaming.

Finally, taking a typical case study of football streaming, you can easily find out the mount of data that would be required to stream a full football match, which is known to be 90 minute and also based on moderate video stream quality i.e. not full HD quality.
