Facebook Now Wants To Know Where Owners Of Large Pages Are Living
Facebook is now interested in knowing where owners of pages with large followers, especially American followers are living and this latest move was made in Facebook latest announcement.
Owners of such large follower pages would now need additional verification process if they must continue using the page and the verification would include a two factor authentication and confirmation of the country that they are based in.
Those with large followers that will need the authorization would get a notification at the top of their newsfeed later this month and for them to continue posting on their Facebook page, they would have to complete the verification process.
Although when the question was thrown to Facebook on the size of pages that would need such verification, Facebook declined to mention any figure and said that some bad people may want to use it to manipulate the system.
Facebook also stated that the page managers would be verified only by checking the location on their phone and without necessarily requiring a physical identification.
Although it seems that Facebook would be starting out the process with page managers with large American followers but would later extend it to include large followers from all countries.
Finally, according to Facebook, their main goal towards the new process is to prevent page owners from misleading the public about who they are and what they are doing.
