Corning Gorilla Glass 6 Launched With Twice As Strong As Its Predecessor
Corning the maker of the famous Corning Gorilla glass protection for millions of mobile device across the globe has launched the latest Gorilla glass 6 that will succeed its predecessor Corning Gorilla glass 5.
What is new in the new Corning Gorilla glass 6 is that firstly it came with higher level of compression capable of surviving more drops before cracking. It is also made of entirely different material that can be chemically strengthened for even higher level of compression.
A test conducted by Corning shows that its new Gorilla Glass 6 can survive cracks when dropped up to 15 times from a height of 1 metre, thereby making it twice as strong as its predecessor Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which is known to survive cracks at half number of drops from the same height as the latest glass.
With a survey carried out by Corning, it showed that more than 50% of phone-drops by users occur within 1 metre height and averagely, people drop their phones up to 7 times in a year from that height, so with the latest Corning Gorilla glass 6 that can withstand 15 times drop, it means that phone users can actually get a 2 years no-crack warranty on their device for all within 1 metre height drops.
Countless number of OEM use Corning Gorilla Glass for their devices and with the coming of Coring Gorilla Glass 6 we expect to even see more devices with the Corning Gorilla glass protection and we look forward to new flagship devices from different OEMs adorning the highly effective glass protection.
