Is The Latest MTN 500MB For N500 And 2GB At N1500 Data Plan A Complete Rip Off?
Just last
week, MTN launched what we considered or thought was one of the cheapest internet data bundles of 500MB at N500 and 2GB at N1500, and we were all glad that
data subscription plans are getting better and cheaper.
As many will
have it and unsuspecting, they queued up in masses and started subscribing
mostly for the 500MB plan that goes
for N500, but what happened the next
few days was totally unbelievable.
At first I
started getting phone calls as if I am one of MTN customer care helpline
assistants, and all I will hear is that their 500MB sub has stopped working
just after 2 days of subscribing, and some complained to me that theirs did not
even last up to 2 days and that they got their data zapped.
I was in
shock and almost did not believe them instantly because the plan was meant to
last for 30 days and more so when we talk of data zapping, we all know the
network that uses malfunctioning calculator to calculate data rate.

But the
whole thing started turning out a reality when I also received a call this morning
from a friend that I did the 2GB at N1500 plan for 3 days ago called me and
told me that he can no longer browse and that his 2GB data is now showing 0MB
after doing only light browsing.
It was then I
now concluded that it is like MTN has joined the league of data zappers
with this their latest and so called cheapest internet data.
My verdict
to all; for those of you that are planning to subscribe for this MTN latest and
so called cheapest data of 500MB at N500 and 2GB at N1500, I will advise you
suspend your intentions or rather continue with the more stable MTN BBLITE tweak on android or the MTN BBLITE tweak for PC.
Or if you don’t
like tweaks; you can consider doing the MTN Better me Data plan of 2GB at N2015
or Glo 1GB for 1k or Etisalat 1GB for 1K, which is now open for all SIMs.
I think a word is enough for the wise at his point in time!

Am not supprised my friend.
ReplyDeleteMTN has really been through a lot that i am afraid they might be running into losses. The imei tweakers
really took a toll on them before their eyes was sharpened into putting an end to imei related data on
newly launched phones leading to scarcity of cheats.
It started from the IMEI's, then to the MTN and naij agreement of free internet to opermaini users. You
and i know many people browsed with that on other browsers and downloaded massively on PC all thanks to
simple server. From there, it moved to the N33,600 worth of free call for N10 only. *142# just for you
offers, MTN bis, MTN browsing free last night through to this morning and then to this recent MTN to MTN free calls. It is really hard on them.
So am not supprised. Prior to this post, i read a post from Yomiprof about the discontinuation of
Infinix hot 2 1GB data for N500 by MTN (Thanks to imei tweaking). In reality, even before that post and
text from MTN, they had actually discontinued the plan a long time ago. Truetalk+ rates increase to
20k/s are all signs of frustration and losses. Forget the regulatory bla blah blah.
So they have no other way to recover other than turn into dubious strategies like this.
Uche Francis!
Hi Uche,
DeleteMTN joining the league of data zappers would have been very terrible, it seems they are now restoring the zapped data.
Thank you for dropping by and do have a lovely weekend
that plan is Sim specific under the new Just4You(*142#) offer currently running on the network
ReplyDeleteHi Kingsley,
DeleteBut that does not justify zapping of data in any way after allowing subscribers to get into the plan
